Συμπλήρωση 20 χρόνων από τη Διεθνή Σύμβαση για τα Δικαιώματα του Παιδιού

Σήμερα, 20 Νοεμβρίου 2009, συμπληρώνονται 20 χρόνια, από την υιοθέτηση της Διεθνούς Σύμβασης για τα Δικαιώματα του Παιδιού από τη Γενική Συνέλευση του Οργανισμού Ηνωμένων Εθνών.

Η Ένωση Μεταναστών Ελλάδος , με αφορμή την επέτειο της Διεθνούς Σύμβασης, στρέφει την προσοχή της στο ζήτημα της χορήγησης ελληνικής ιθαγένειας στα παιδιά ξένης καταγωγής που γεννιούνται στην Ελλάδα. Ζήτημα που αποτελεί και δέσμευση της Ελληνικής κυβέρνησης.

Σε συνδυασμό με το δημοσίευμα του περιοδικού «Επίκαιρα» για την ελληνοποίηση των μεταναστών, παρατηρούμε ότι «σύμφωνα με ανεπίσημα στοιχεία του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών, υπολογίζεται ότι περίπου 500-600 χιλιάδες μετανάστες θα εκδηλώσουν ενδιαφέρον για να υπαχθούν στη ρύθμιση της ιθαγένειας.». Επίσης, ενώ η ελληνική ιθαγένεια θα δοθεί στα παιδιά των νομίμων μεταναστών, ωστόσο δεν έχουν τεθεί οι προϋποθέσεις σχετικά με το χρόνο διαμονής των γονιών ή των ίδιων των παιδιών, εφόσον πρόκειται για ορφανά ή ασυνόδευτα ανήλικα. Η Ένωση Μεταναστών, ζητά να απαντηθούν αυτά τα ερωτήματα σύντομα, ώστε να σταματήσουν οι υποθέσεις κινδυνολογίας σχετικά με τα δικαίωματα των νομίμων μεταναστών και να υπάρξει επιτέλους μια σχέση εμπιστοσύνης μεταξύ Ελλήνων και μεταναστών, όπως συμβαίνει και στις υπόλοιπες ευρωπαϊκές χώρες.

Όσον αφορά την εργασία των παιδιών στα φανάρια των δρόμων ή στην εξώθησή τους στην επαιτεία, με σκοπό την εκμετάλλευσή τους, στρεφόμαστε προς την Κυβέρνηση και ζητάμε να ληφθούν μέτρα για την εξάλλειψη του φαινομένου, το οποίο προέρχεται απο την δράση της ρουμανικής, βουλγαρικής και τσιγγάνικης μαφίας στην Ελλάδα.

20th anniversary of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child

Today, 20^th November 2009, marks the 20^th anniversary of the adoption of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The Immigration Union of Greece, on the occasion of the International Convention, turns its attention to the issue of Greek citizenship granted to children of foreign origin, born in Greece. This is an issue which constitutes also the commitment of the Greek government.

Together with the publication at the magazine "Epikaira" regarding the immigrants’ rights for the Greek citizenship, we note that "according to unofficial figures from the Interior Ministry it has been estimated that some 500-600 thousands of migrants have expressed interest to be considered as candidates for the citizenship regulation process”. Moreover, while the Greek citizenship will be provided to children of legal immigrants, no specific preconditions have been set regarding the parents’ period of residence or the children themselves in the case they are orphans or unaccompanied minors. The Immigration Union of Greece seeks to answer these questions soon in order to stop scaremongering matters concerning the rights of legal immigrants and to finally have a relationship of trust between Greeks and immigrants, as is the case in the other European countries.

Regarding the employment of children at the traffic lights or in forced begging in order to exploit them, we are turning to the Government with the request to take measure for the expunction of the phenomenon that was brought to Greece by actions of Romanian, Bulgarian and Roma mafia.
